The future of Rotary is in your hands.

Project List

Georgia Rotary Student Program: Each year, the club (with assistance from the Augusta South Rotary Club) pays to bring an international student to Augusta to spend a year of study at Augusta State University as part of our mission to spread global goodwill and understanding.

St. John Towers: The club has long been a supporter of the St. John Towers retirement community in Augusta, helping enhance its residents’ quality of life by organizing an annual winter Holiday program and Spring Picnic.

Interact Club: The club’s longtime affiliation with Westside High School has extended to the sponsorship of the school’s Interact Club. The program gives young people an opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while learning leadership skills and meeting new friends.

Highway Beautification: The club helps keep Augusta an attractive community by cleaning up a one-mile section of River Watch Parkway, a main thoroughfare that acts as a major gateway to the city.

Construction Project: Club volunteers work up a sweat building various items for charities and individuals in need. Relying on donated materials and the manual labor of club members, past projects have included picnic tables for a local transition center.

Hal C. Moore Fund: Since 1964 the club has honored the memory of Hal C. Moore, the son of charter member Dan Moore, by providing a college scholarship fund for worthy candidates from area schools. The winning student presents their essay to the club and at the District 6920 speech contest.

A Taste of Something Wild: Proceeds from the club’s wild-game tasting event benefits the Augusta Alzheimer’s Foundation and the Georgia-Carolina Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The annual event, which relies on donated game and the culinary expertise of area sportsmen, is becoming more popular every year.

Mexico Mission: A group of club members, led by retired physician Dr. Bill Caput, travel to Peidras Negras, Mexico, each year to operate a weeklong volunteer clinic. For most people in the community, it is their only chance to receive medical care. Club members also prepare care packages of donated material for distribution in the city.

Soup Kitchen: Club members regularly volunteer to help staff a soup kitchen for the homeless in downtown Augusta.

Media Day: Since 1978, the club has honored members of the Augusta news media for their professional and civic contributions during a special awards luncheon. The media professional who best represents the ideas of Rotary is presented with the Louis Harris Award, named after the late Augusta community leader and former Managing Editor of The Augusta Chronicle.
