David Thorsson arrived on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at the Augusta Regional Airport. David was welcomed by members of Augusta West and our Assistant District Governor, Pam Lightsey of Augusta South Rotary Club. An official September welcoming reception is being planned. Stay tuned for more details.

David, 23, is from Valbo,Sweden. He will be 24 on Dec. 26. He is interested in studying American Literature, philosophy, and psychology. He has spent a year working and traveling in Australia. His hobbies are reading, socializing with friends, traveling, working out, ice hockey, and soccer. He’s a psychology student at Sweden’s Uppsala University. David was born in St. Joseph, Mich., while his dad – an executive with a Swedish steel company – was assigned to the company’s U.S. operation. David learned about GRSP through his mother, a travel agent in Valbo with U.S.-based Carlson Wagonlit travel . David’s family returned from Michigan to Sweden when he was 3, so he doesn’t remember much about living in America. David has an older sister, 27, who lives in Brussels, Belgium, and a younger brother who is 16.

Welcome to Augusta West Rotary Club

Augusta, Georgia

Welcome to Augusta West Rotary Club!  Our club is made up of individuals who are committed to making a difference far greater than any individual effort.  We play a leadership role in supporting many local organizations – with gifts of time, talents and financial resources.  Whether we are reading to elementary school children, hosting a holiday party in senior housing community, building a wheelchair ramp, awarding the Louis Harris Award to a worthy media individual, hosting Taste of Something Wild to support our local Alzheimer’s Association, supporting an international humanitarian effort or the many other projects we undertake – we are sharing in fellowship with other Rotarians and we are having fun!

Our goal is to make a difference in our community and in the world!  Please join us!

We meet Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. at The Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall at 402 Aumond Road. To find us just go to Meeting times and location. If you are ever in our area please make-up with us. You are always welcome.

Rotary’s Four-Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?

  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?

  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
